Our Ancestors used Oval and Round stone knives and metal knives like the Ulu which also had a curved profile.  It is creates a natural slicing and skinning motion.  The Whorl is pays homage to ten of thousands of years in which this simple profile of a cutting instrument was important to our survival skills.
